Garlic Powder and Dried Garlic Chunks
Fresh cured garlic should last most of the year, but having some dried garlic powder and chunks on hand adds a different dimension of flavor to many meals and is a quick way to use garlic if time is not on your side!
Servings
Ingredients
  • garlic bulbs The more you use the better as this is a process you should only have to do once a year at most.

Instructions
  1. Peel and slice the garlic cloves
  2. Place the slices into a dehydrator or on a screen to put out under the hot sun. If you have lots of sun, you might want to save slicing time by drying the cloves whole (better with small cloves).
  3. Once dry, place the dried slices in a food processor (blender works too) and process until desired consistency. Short processing results in chunks and long processing results in powder. You’ll most likely end up with a mixture of chunks and powder after a few pulses of the processor. This calls for a sieve, which, with some gentle taps can help you separate the chunks from the powder.
Recipe Notes

I prefer the above method and it helps to have some family and friends to sit around and chat with to pass the time. There is, however, a faster way to prepare dried garlic.

1. Place the unpeeled cloves into your dehydrator overnight to loosen the skins
2. Remove the skins and place in a food processor to achieve garlic slices
3. Place the slices back into your dehydrator and fully dry out the garlic
